Contender or Drama?

The 134th Kentucky Derby is not without its share of drama, Trainer Larry Jones deciding where to place his two fillies have proved us with that drama, and though it makes for good TV. This is nothing but a distraction to a handicapper like me. In fact Eight Belle makes things a lot easier, that’s one less horse I have to worry about. If she beats me (which I doubt) so be it, but I don’t think the 134th Derby will be won by a filly. Her trainer Larry Jones, sounds like he has already won the oaks, please. In this game there is no sure thing and that’s why we run these races.
As you might have figured I don’t give Eight Belles much of chance in this derby (am not even sure she could win the oaks). And before you go think am singling out the filly, There also a few other horse I have eliminated in my quest to find the derby winner, I think derby is going to elude Nick Zito again, with Cool Coal Man (Mineshaft) and Anak Nakal (Victory Gallop). Smooth Air appears to have some issue so he’s a throw out. I am not recapturing any glory, so out go’s Recapturing the Glory. Sorry ET Baird (much love).
Monba/ Cowboy Cal. I loved Manba in Blue Grass. Good horse but the defection of Prado make me think he is not developed fully (might be a good older horse come Breeder Cup time) Cowboy cal I don’t see winning with his running style.
I have cut my Derby down to 10 contenders Adriano, Big Brown, Colonel John, Court Vision, Gayego, Pyro, Tale of Ekati, Z fortune and Z Humor. From this group will come our next Derby winner (I hope). So all week I will track them to see, who will be at the center of my bets. I will take into consideration works, trainer comments, and your comments before coming to a definite conclusion.
