Dennis The Contender of Cork

`When I made Tuesdays blog entry I was not aware of the defection of Lexington Stakes winner Behindatthebar, what that did was open the door for Dennis of Cork.
Dennis is a Horse of interest to me, ever since his maiden victory at Churchill Downs when he had a trouble trip to get up to beat a heavy favorite from the barn of Steve Asmussen, that race really impressed me . He later showed great promise in winning the grade3 Southern Stakes. And when he finished 5th in the Illinois derby, I was left speechless (took a hit in the wallet).
I couldn’t understand the move to run in Illinois, and watching the replay made me assume he just didn’t like the track( so am willing to forget that race).
David Caroll seem more than elated, not only was his horse in, but on Monday he worked an impressive 47.8 seconds almost reminiscent of last year Street Sense work.
New jock Calvin Borel said “he did it so kind and cool, so collected”. Borel added “I wouldn’t ride anyone else in the Race”.
Based on the new development I have to add Dennis to my list of contenders.
